Of my amazing husband. Check both these videos out...not only did James play well, but he wrote Dagda's Harp, The New Squire (after Dorian!) and Ruby as a Child.

I thought I lived in the Bay Area
I am appalled. While I was out taking a walk with Dorian earlier, I had an experience that disgusted me to the core. At a major intersection in Oakland, California, there were 20-30 young teens holding "Yes on Prop 8" signs. Not only that, there were cars actually happily beeping their horns at them (showing support) and the teens would erupt in cheers. I am freaking disgusted. I thought we lived in the liberal part of the country. Even more disgusting to me is that these young teens (children, really) never stood a chance. These aren't their views. These are the views their close-minded parents have instilled in them. These teens were most likely students at the Catholic school 2 blocks way. And people ask me why I am an atheist. Um, HELLO???????????*
I love the handmade sign my neighbor put up today - "Stay Evolved. No on 8." Awesome.

*Yes, I know not all religions support these views and that as a liberal, I need to accept others' views. I normally do. I am just so angry right now.

Article on Merritt College
Read this article. Not quite as good as I had hoped, but it's a start. The Peralta Community College District Board of Trustees, State Chancellor's Office, Governor's Office and Board of Registered Nursing have all been contacted by several of my classmates as well and apparently, it looks like changes might be made. I hope we made a difference!

Mission Possible?
I am about to embark on a previously unheard of mission. I am going to spend the next few hours in the kitchen. Not cleaning. Cooking. Well, baking actually. I am going to bake cupcakes. 72 of them. 3 different flavors. 3 different frostings. With decorations and writing on top. And sprinkles. They will be made from a box, but you don't understand, this is still a major challenge for me. I am seriously dysfunctional in the kitchen. Do you all remember what happened when I tried to make myself a basic breakfast of toast and eggs a couple weeks ago? Wish me luck!

This makes me sick
It's the 21st century...how can people be so close-minded??? I don't think it's a secret that I am a "strict" Atheist. I do have friends and extended family members who are Jewish, Christian, Buddhist and Catholic. I respect their beliefs. I will respect anyone's beliefs as long as they don't shove them down my throat or stop other people from living their lives how they want. But I have no tolerance, ABSOLUTELY NO TOLERANCE, for people who don't allow others to have the same rights as everyone else. This makes me want to throw up.

We're going with the original, second plan B, three times edited
So the January-start program is not an option now...I was missing one history prerequisite (general education, not nursing) and I thought the fact I had a BA from UCSB and other history classes would be enough to get it waived. Nope. So back to second plan B. Applying for the accelerated BSN program for a May start and the 2 year BSN program for a September start (I'll have to take the history course next summer if I get into that program). In the meantime, I start CNA school on October 20th and will be done just before Thanksgiving. I start my week-end statistics course on October 25 and that class ends December 14th. So I have a busy couple months coming up...I can't wait! I am so bored at home, even with my online Medical Terminology course and applications to fill out. I don't know how James can do it and LOVE it. Thank goodness he does though, because someone has to take care of our little guy!
We go to England in December and then I'll look for CNA jobs when we return. Finally! A solidified plan!!!! Of course, who knows if I'll get into school for May or September but at least I'll have the CNA certification and can always do that for a couple years until I do get into another nursing program. Yay!

NET
I took the NET (Nurse Entrance Test) today. I felt like I did fairly well on it. There's a possibility I may be able to apply (late) for a 2 year BSN program that starts this January! I had to get the test done ASAP (as in like preferably a month ago). So I had to arrange to have the test overnighted, privately proctored at a local learning center, and overnighted back to the grading center, then rushed to the college. All for additional fees of course. I don't even want to think about how much we've spent on schooling and applications over the last couple months. Such is life! I need the test scores for the other programs I'm applying for, so would have needed to take it at some point this fall anyway. I couldn't pass up a possible chance to apply for a January-start program though! We'll see. The director is going to get back to me soon to let me know if it's still worth me applying. If not, I'll go with the original second plan B (is that confusing or what?) and start an inexpensive, 6 week CNA program in a few weeks, then work as a CNA while applying for nursing schools for next year. All the nursing programs I'm applying for are at Samuel Merritt College. Yes, I know, it's unfortunate the name is so similar to the last school I attended but I assure you, this one is a huge step up. HUGE. Just look at the tuition!!!!!!!!!!!! They better provide first-rate education for those prices!

My son is walking!!!! It was the best day ever. He is sooooo excited and happy to be doing it. God, I love him. I forget about all the other drama that's been going on in my life when I see him so happy. He is amazing. My little hero. WALKING!!!!!
